Ademir Junior (Brazil) , Tiago Loei (Brazil) and the Latvian Radio Big Band
The Saxophonia festival will bring together the Brazilian musicians Ademir Junior (saxophone), Tiago Loei (percussion) and the Latvian Radio Big Band.
Ademir Junior is a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and composer who is considered one of the most active and popular improv saxophonists in Brazil and South America. Ademir’s saxophone skills are self-taught; as a soloist he has collaborated with Chris Potter, John Patitucci, Bob Mintzer, Paquito D’Rivera, and many others. He is the first Brazilian saxophonist to sign with the world-famous label Selmer.
Tiago Loei is a Brazilian percussionist who has actively been performing and participating in the album recordings of different bands around Brazil since he was 16; later on, he has also lived in Havana, Cuba, where he furthered his knowledge and studied the famous Cuban rhythms. Loei has spent multiple years in Riga and has collaborated as a percussionist with popular and outstanding musicians in Latvia - Raimonds Pauls, Intars Busulis, Kārlis Vanags, and many others, therefore this Saxophonia concert will also be Tiago’s return to the place he once called home.
The concert will feature Ademir Junior’s original works, as well as the classics of both jazz from around the world and Brazilian music.
